There are very few cities in Germany which do not boast an Asian grocery shop, a curry restaurant or a South Asian community. The majority of the South Asians living in Germany come from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Nepal. Some have lived in Germany for decades, whereas others have come recently thanks to the IT boom. There are already many second-generation South Asians who were born in Germany. They all have a different story to tell about their identity, their experiences and their life here in Germany. Deutsche Welle's Debarati Guha met a few of them and heard their tales. Over the months, she will meet many more.

Debarati Guha conducted the interviews in three languages -- Bengali, Hindi, English and German -- here they have all been rendered in English.
