Abdel Meguid Kassem completed his medical studies at Cairo University where he graduated in 1990 and received his M.D. in 2000. He currently works as a full professor in the Department of Endemic Diseases, Cairo University. From 1996-1998, Kassem received a scholarship from the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). In recognition of his efforts and contributions he was rewarded with many other distinctions, such as the Young Clinician Programme scholarship. Kassem is a member of several renowned national and international professional committees and advisor to several governmental organizations. He is member of the national committee on drafting legislations for clinical trials in Egypt. His current research portfolio includes colonic cancer, endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) and endoscopic ultrasound.
