Countering piracy in the Gulf of Guinea

Chimtom, Ngala KilliamFebruary 6, 2013

While the number of pirate attacks in the Horn of Africa has been dropping, they are increasing in the Gulf of Guinea off Africa's west coast. Experts say rising crude oil prices and insecurity in the region are driving the attacks. They are worried that the situation could force up the price of oil and imported goods. Leaders in the region are now liaising with the UN and the US to fight piracy.
