Why does DW use UTC for programming times?

As an international broadcaster with programming in time zones around the world, DW can specify broadcasting and reception times more efficiently by using this international standard.

Like most other international television and radio stations, DW’s transmission times are in UTC (also called GMT or world time). UTC, GMT (Greenwich Mean Time) and world time all describe a standard time used worldwide on which all other time zones are based. Here you’ll find a world time table that you use by adding or subtracting from UTC according to your location therefore determining at what local time you should tune in at home.

Here you'll find more information about the world’s time zones.
