One of Hamburg's former stars, Ruud van Nistelrooy, is back at the club for a short internship as he learns the ropes as a coach. The former Dutch international says the changes at the German club will be "good for HSV."

Former Dutch international Ruud van Nistelrooy is spending time at struggling Bundesliga club, Hamburg, as part of his progress towards getting a UEFA coaching license. The 38-year-old is currently the Dutch national team assistant coach.

Speaking at a press conference ahead of the Stuttgart game, Van Nistelrooy continues to find the club is still leaving a big impression on him, three years after he left.

"Everything is in place here for Hamburg to be a big player in the Bundesliga, and hopefully they will be back to that soon," he said.

"I wanted to know a bit more about the structural changes that are in place here at the moment," Van Nistelrooy added. "This is one of the biggest positives here right now."

While at his former stomping ground, Van Nistelrooy will hold talks with club officials Dietmar Beisersdorfer, Peter Knäbel and Bernhard Peters, and will also watch the first team train and be part of their pre-game preparations against Stuttgart.

"I am glad that such a great player is here. Maybe he's the next former player to bring us luck," said HSV head coach Joe Zinnbauer to journalists in Hamburg.

Hamburg's team management must be hoping that some of "Van the Man's" goal-scoring skills will rub off on the current crop of Hamburg players, too. The Dutchman played 34 times for the club between January 2010 and June 2011, scoring a total of 17 goals.

This season HSV have managed just nine goals in total, in the 14 league games played so far. The north German team are the only ever-present club in Germany's top flight for over half a century and are currently placed 14th in the table.
