The first Porsche

The Porsche 356 was one of the cars that launched the Porsche legend. Helmut Pfeifhofer of Gmünd, Austria witnessed the very beginnings of the Porsche brand. He bought his first car 1957, it was Porsche 356.

At the close of World War II, Porsche's design department had moved into a little wooden workshop in Gmünd. Pfeifhofer bought his first Porsche in 1957 -- a 356. Its 75-horsepower engine propelled it to 175 kph, a sensational top speed at the time.
