Vintage: Ford Speedster

The Ford A Speedster was one of the earliest models in automobile racing. In the 1920s, daredevil men would race round dusty tracks in the revolutionary new vehicles. The model we look at dates back to 1929 and boasts 40 horsepower.

It can reach speeds of a 100 kilometres an hour. At a time when most people were still traveling by horse and carriage, such speeds seemed unbelievable. Ford enthusiast Claus Müller fulfilled his dream of building his own Ford A Speedster. He had the bodywork delivered from Argentina and then slowly put the car together, it took many hundreds of hours. Drive it! joined him for a spin in this pre-wartime racing car.
