Prince Edward Island, Canada's smallest province, is cradled on the waves between the Atlantic Ocean and the Northumberland Strait.

With farming, fishing and tourism as its main industries, this island has it all. Between the beautiful white sand beaches on the ocean side, to the red rocky clay beaches on the strait side, visitors can find tables of fresh bounty from the sea and land, exciting theater that boasts the timeless Anne of Green Gables, and a full range of activities for the whole family to enjoy.

Charlottetown, the province's capital city, is the location where the historic 1864 meeting, The Charlottetown Conference, was held that led to the birth of Canada as a nation. Visitors can tour Province House and see where this conference was held. The 150th anniversary of the Charlottetown Conference will take place in 2014 and festivals, events and special activities will be held throughout the year. As the celebration planning continues, keep up to date with activities at www.pei2014.ca .

Prince Edward Island has been affectionately called "The Cradle of Confederation", "The million-acre farm" and by its native Indian name "Abegweit", which means cradled on the waves.

Around every turn along the roads, you will encounter vibrant vistas. The red soil, the green fields and the blue water are ever present. Famous for potatoes, lobster, Malpeque oysters and over 30 golf courses, and of course, Anne of Green Gables, visitors are never at a loss for things to discover and enjoy on our little island.

So, what are you waiting for? Come visit us in 2014, let us introduce you to our laid-back way of life. Let us entertain you and feed you and before you leave, you will be making plans for your next visit. We'll be expecting you!
