Patti Page, nicknamed "The Singing Rage," died on Tuesday aged 85 in a nursing home in Encinitas, California after suffering congestive heart failure, her manager, Michael Glynn, told Reuters.

Last month Page learned that she was to receive a lifetime achievement Grammy award - as was Indian sitar legend Ravi Shankar who passed away on December 12.

Both will be honored posthumously at the annual music industry showcase in February.

Page, born in Oklahoma as Clara Ann Fowler in 1927, sold more than 100 million albums including 1950s chart toppers "(How Much Is That) Doggie in the Window," "I Went to Your Wedding" and "All My Love (Bolero)."

Her first major hits were "With My Eyes Wide Open I'm Dreaming" in 1950, followed by "The Tennessee Waltz" the following year.

Page also won a Grammy for her 1998 album "Live at Carnegie Hall: The 50th Anniversary Concert."

She is survived by her two children, and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
