Gay marriage gets the go-ahead in the UK

The British parliament has just approved a new law legalizing gay marriage. The new measure - if it becomes law - will put gay and straight couples on an equal footing. The vote in favour was a victory for Prime Minister David Cameron, but caused rifts in the party, he only got the measure through with the support of the Opposition.
