In Benin, women traditionally harvest and process many of the country's food products. They can now do that much faster thanks to biofuel from the jatropha plant and self-established cooperatives. 

Temperatures deep inside the earth are boiling and this heat can be used to produce electricity. Geothermal power is reliable, sustainable, and environmentally friendly – and tapping it is well worth the effort.  

Ernst Huenges, who leads the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ), says there's huge potential to extract energy from the heat and water resources within the earth in order to meet the world's energy needs.
