The World Cup may be over but behind the scenes, transfer deals are being done as Bundesliga clubs prepare for the season ahead. Keep up with the most recent moves here, in DW's wrap of the 2014 summer transfer period.

Benatia deal closed - 26.08 - One week before the transfer window closes, Bayern Munich has gotten its hands on another defender before the close of the summer transfer window: AS Roma player Mehdi Benatia is now confirmed as the Bavarian club's latest signing.

Briand moves to Hanover - 22.08 - Olympique Lyon striker Jimmy Briand has signed a deal with Hanover until 30 June 2015. The former French national team representative will wear the number 21 at his new club.

Schalke add another keeper - 13.08 - Schalke have brought in experienced goalkeeper Christian Wetklo after the injury to back-up keeper Fabian Giefer. The 34-year-old returns to the club of his youth, having only recently left Mainz to join Darmstadt, to sign a one-year deal.

Ostrzolek opts to head north - 12.08 - The rumours are true. Matthias Ostrzolek has left FC Augsburg to join Hamburger SV. The promising left back has joined for a suspected 2.5 million euros, signing a contract until 2017. Although not part of the move, FCA didn't wait long to find their replacement as Abdul Rahman Baba arrived from Greuther Fürth, where he also penned a deal until 2017.

Contento heads to France - 11.08 It's official: German-Italian defender Diego Contento is moving to the Ligue 1, to play for Bordeaux. The Munich-born footballer had been at Bayern for 19 years. He first played at the club in July 1995 as a five-year-old.

Stankevicius to Hanover -10.08 Hanover has signed on the Lithuanian defender Marius Stankevicius. The 33 year old played last season in the the Turkish top-flight for Gaziantespor.

Big in Japan - 10.08 Former Germany and Stuttgart striker Cacau is on his way to Japan, to play for Osaka in the J-League. The 33-year-old had been struggling of late for a starting spot in the Stuttgart side.

Wolfsburg get defensive help - 08.08 VfL Wolfsburg have added to their squad with the signing of 23-year-old Frenchman, Josuha Guilavogui. The defensive midfielder comes on a two-year loan from Spanish champions and Champions League finalists Atletico Madrid.

Nicolai Müller in Hamburg - 06.08 Hamburg's buying spree in the summer break continues, thanks to the hefty loan from millionaire HSV fan, Klaus-Michael Kühne. The latest addition to the Hamburg squad is former Mainz midfielder Nicolai Müller, who is rumoured to have cost the club around 4.5 million euros ($6.03 million).

Reina set to join Bayern - 05.08 - The Spanish keeper is likely to become the Bundesliga's most high-profile backup. Bayern confirm Reina is set to sign a contract with the club pending a medical. On the books at Liverpool, he spent last season on loan at Napoli.

Stuttgart nabs Chelsea's Romeu - 04.08 - Stuttgart has managed to attract some star power to its ranks for this season, obtaining Spaniard Oriol Romeu on loan from Chelsea for one year.

Papadopoulos training in Leverkusen - 03.08 - Greek international Kyriakos Papadopoulos hit the training field just moments after joining Leverkusen on Sunday. The central defender, who's on a one year loan from Schalke, says he's looking forward to the challenge of proving himself at his new club.

Seferovic to Frankfurt - 1.08 - The Eagles continue to strengthen their attack with the signing of Swiss striker Haris Seferovic. The 22-year-old, who scored the winner against Ecuador for Switzerland at the World Cup in Brazil, signed from Real Sociedad until 2017.

Valdez back in the Bundesliga with Frankfurt - 29.07 - Striker Nelson Valdez, 30, has once again teamed up with Thomas Schaaf. The Paraguayan previously played under the Eintracht Frankfurt coach at Werder Bremen for four years before moving to Borussia Dortmund in 2006. He comes to Frankfurt from UAE club Al Jazira after previous stints at Hercules, Rubin Kazan, Valencia and Olympiacos.

Hannover bring in Almer - 27.07 - In light of some disgruntled rumours surrounding their number one Ron-Robert Zieler, a recent World Cup winner, Hannover 96 have signed Austrian goalkeeper Robert Almer. The 30-year-old arrives from recently relegated second-division side Energie Cottbus.

Kiyotake stays in the top flight - 25.07 - Hannover 96 have signed Japanese midfielder Hiroshi Kiyotake for around 4.3 million euros. The attacking midfielder leaves the relegated 1. FC Nürnberg to sign a four-year deal with Tayfun Korkut's team. Was the move a safe choice though?

Piazon joins Frankfurt - 24.07 - Eintracht Frankfurt have secured the services of Chelsea starlet Lucas Piazon on a season-long loan. Piazon arrives on the back of a loan spell at Dutch side Vitesse Arnheim, where the attacking midfielder scored 11 in 29 games. "There are a lot of good players at the club. I've got to assert myself," said the new signing.

Djuricic joins Mainz on loan - 23.07 - New Mainz 05 coach Kasper Hjulmand has added another name to his squad by bringing in 22-year-old attacking midfielder Filip Djuricic on loan from Portuguese champions Benfica. The Serbian has made 15 international appearances, and scored four goals.

Mlapa drops a divison - 21.07 - Gladbach striker Peniel Mlapa has moved to recently relegated 1. FC Nürnberg on a season long loan deal. The 23-year-old will be looking for some first team experience.

Kroos chooses Madrid over Munich - 17.07 - Another well-rumoured move has now been confirmed as Germany and Bayern Munich midfielder Toni Kroos has joined Real Madrid for a fee believed to be around 25 million euros. Kroos has seemingly long not seen eye to eye with Bayern and so the move is far from surprising.

Ginter finally confirmed in Dortmund - 17.07 - Borussia Dortmund have finally confirmed the signing of Freiburg defender Matthias Ginter. The 20-year-old, Germany's youngest ever World Cup winner, is reported to have moved for around 10 million euros.

Mancienne returns to England - 16.07 - The 26-year-old defender has signed a contract until 2018 with Championship club Nottingham Forest after leaving HSV for around 1.9 million euros.

Jara to Mainz - 16.07 - Mainz have signed former West Brom and Brighton defender Gonzalo Jara. The Chilean, who featured at the 2014 World Cup, has signed a two-year-deal with the Nullfünfers.

Mitrovic to Freiburg - 16.07 - Freiburg have signed 24-year-old Serbian defender Stefan Mitrovic from Benfica. The Belgrade-born centre-back was previously on loan at Real Valladolid.

Huszti leaves Hannover - 16.07 - Hannover's creative Hungarian Szabolcs Huszti has completed a medical with Chinese club Changchun Yatai. He scored 19 goals over the past few seasons.

Ya Konan to Saudi Arabia - 12.07 - Having not signed a new contract at Hannover 96, Ivorian striker Didier Ya Konan was available for a free transfer and has now signed for Saudi Arabian side Al Ittihad.

Pocognoli moves to England - 12.07 - Left back Sebastien Pocognoli has left Hannover 96 for West Bromwich Albion. The 26-year-old has signed a contract until 2017 but the fee was undisclosed. The Belgian is apparently keen on more first-team opportunities in the hope of furthering his chances at international level.

de Jong moves home! - 11.07 - Borussia Mönchengladbach striker Luuk de Jong, who returned to the Bundesliga side after a brief loan spell at Newcastle United last season, has left the Bundesliga club permanently to return to the Netherlands on a five-year contract at PSV Eindhoven.

Mandzukic leaves Bayern - 10.07 - Mario Mandzukic has left Bayern Munich to join Spanish champions Atletico Madrid. The 28-year-old was rumoured to be on the way out the moment that Bayern confirmed Robert Lewandowski would be arriving. The fee is suspected to be around 22 million euros.

Bernat to Bayern! - 07.07 - Bayern Munich have confirmed that 21-year-old Valencia full-back Juan Bernat has joined the club on a long-term deal. The fee is believed to be worth in the region of 10 million euros. Bernat can play at left-wing, is quick and is the third Spanish player at the club.

Hanke to China - 06.07 - Mike Hanke has left SC Freiburg on a free to move to China and Guizhou Renhe. "I'm looking forward to the greatest adventure of my life. I've been in China for the last five days and I've decide: I'm going to do it!" revealed Hanke's agent.

Eric to S04 - 05.07 - Schalke 04 have completed the signing of Mainz's out-of-contract forward Eric-Maxim Choupo-Moting. The Cameroonian ace featured at the World Cup and has signed a three-year-deal at the Veltins Arena.

Beware of the Hazard! - 05.07 - Borussia Mönchengladbach have signed Thorgan Hazard on loan for 12 months from Zulte Waregem. Thorgan is the younger brother of Chelsea and Belgium star, Eden.

Lasogga confirms HSV deal move - 04.07 - After a loan-spell, Hamburg have completed the permanent signing of Pierre-Michel Lasogga from Hertha Berlin on a five-year deal. Media reports suggest the fee is in the region of 8,5 million euros ($11.5 million).

Szalai chooses TSG - 04.07 - After a quiet year at Schalke, striker Adam Szalai has joined Hoffenheim on a four-year contract.

Calhanoglu leaves HSV - 04.07 - Bayer Leverkusen have swooped to sign HSV's Hakan Calhanoglu. The Turkish international has signed a five-year deal at the BayArena with the club spending 14 million euros ($19 million).

New striker for Hertha - 03.07 - Things are busy in the capital. 25-year-old Julian Schieber has also now signed on for Hertha BSC. The Dortmund striker will be a welcome guest in Berlin after the loss of other attackers Pierre-Michel Lasogga and Adrian Ramos.

Young talent from Ukraine - 27.06 - Bayer Leverkusen has signed up Ukrainian under 21 international Vladlen Yurchenko from Shakhtar Donetsk with a contract until 30 June 2016. The youngster is the fifth new player for Bayer for this coming season.

Heitinga signs! - 23.06 - Hertha BSC have confirmed the signing of experienced Dutch defender Johnny Heitinga. The 30-year-old has appeared 87 times for the Dutch national team, while also playing for Everton, Fulham, Ajax and Atletico Madrid. Below he tweets, "But I'm proud to be a Hertha Berlin player."

Paderborn prepare! - 23.06 - Newly-promoted SC Paderborn have signed 1860 München attacker Moritz Stoppelkamp. The 27-year-old was the top goalscorer for the club in 2.Bundesliga last season.

World Cup purchase for 96 - 20.06 - Hannover 96 have signed Chile left back Miiko Albornoz from Swedish club Malmö FF on a three-year deal. Albornoz made his international in January and was included in the final 23 that travelled to Brazil.

Kalas here - 11.06 - Chelsea defender Tomas Kalas will spend the next 12 months on loan at newly-promoted Cologne. He is the club's eighth piece of transfer business so far in season 2014-2015 following Osako, Zoller, Vogt, Svento, Peszko, Mavraj and Olkowski.

Joselu signs - 09.06 - Joselu joins Hannover 96 until June 2018 for a reported 5 million euro transfer fee. The Spanish striker was on Hoffenheim's books, but spent last season on loan at Eintracht Frankfurt.

Done deal! - 06.06 - Striker Daniel Ginczek leaves Nuremberg to sign with Stuttgart. The 23-year-old, who had a 2.5 million euro relegation clause, has signed a contract to 2018.

Can departs - 05.06 - Leverkusen all-rounder Emre Can joins Premier League side Liverpool. Deal reported to be 12 million euros.

Deal for Ducksch! - 03.06 - Newly promoted SC Paderborn have signed 20-year-old Borussia Dortmund striker Marvin Ducksch on a season-long loan deal.

Ciro arrives - 03.06 - Borussia Dortmund have made their biggest signing of the summer with the 19-million-euro striker Ciro Immobile. The deal follows a protracted three-way negotiation process involving Torino and Juventus.

SIGNED! - 02.06 - VfB Stuttgart have signed Nürnberg's Adam Hlousek on a four-year-deal. The 23-year-old Czech midfielder leaves the club after relegation on the final Bundesliga weekend.

Done deal! - 02.06 - Frankfurt have continued their shopping spree by securing Nürnberg defender Timothy Chandler, according to Sky Sports News. The US defender is expected to sign a three-year-deal today at the club.

Move to Frankfurt - 02.06 - Nürnberg midfielder Hakoto Masebe has signed a two-year-deal with Eintracht Frankfurt. The Eagles were in the market for a replacement for Sebastian Rode and Pirmin Schwegler, and the captain of Japan certainly seems a good fit.

Japanese striker in Cologne - 30.05 - Newly promoted Cologne have signed 1860 Munich's Japanese striker Yuyo Osako. The frontman will cost the Billy Goats around 1,5 million euros and is expected to be unveiled in the first week of June.

Done deal! - 27.05: Freiburg have signed Werder Bremen goalkeeper Sebastian Mielitz who spent nine years with the northern club.

Contract renewal! - 27.05: Claudio Pizarro has extended his stay at Bayern Munich for another 12 months. The Peruvian is the highest-scoring foreign player in Bundesliga history.

Hunt signs! - 27.05: Aaron Hunt has signed a three-year-deal with VfL Wolfsburg after leaving Werder Bremen at the end of the season. The midfielder spent 13 years in Bremen and adds some experience to Wolfsburg's already impressive squad.

Done deal! - 27.05: Wolfsburg's Jan Polak has agreed to join relegated 1.FC Nürnberg. The 33-year-old makes the move to Franconia, despite the second-division club still being without a new head coach.

Done deal! - 26.05: SC Freiburg have taken the option to sign Admir Mehmedi on a permanent deal following a successful loan spell from Dynamo Kyiv. The striker scored 12 goals last season on loan and will be Freiburg's record signing - the fee is believed to be between four and six million euros.

HSV strike - 25.5: Hamburg have made their second signing of the summer in Greuther Fürth's Zoltan Stieber. The former Aston Villa winger will cost the Bundesliga dinosaur around 1.7 million euros and joins for two seasons. Stieber scored nine goals for Fürth this campaign, assisting a further 11 in the second division.
