The environmental cost of mining

Zambia has a long mining history dating back to the late 1960s. Mining was then, and still is today, central to the Zambian economy - contributing about 80 percent of the country’s annual income. But it comes with a huge environmental cost to Zambia’s major towns in the mineral rich copper belt province.
