January 6, 2015

Stefan Kraft has won this year's Four Hills event as Austria's ski jumpers again dominated the final day of jumping in Bischofshofen. Switzerland's Simon Amman was badly injured though.

Austria's Michael Hayboeck won the fourth day of the competition, but it was his compatriot Stefan Kraft who claimed the top spot overall in this year's Four Hills tournament.

"I always knew that I would win it eventually," said 21-year-old Kraft afterwards.

Hayboeck finished in Bischofshofen with 288.4 points, followed by Noriaki Kasai and Stefan Kraft, in a day once again marked by an accident in the landing area. This time Swiss jumper Simon Ammann injured himself badly after falling on his second jump. On Monday, the USA's Nicholas Fairall injured his back after a heavy fall.

Overall, it was Stefan Kraft - the winner of the first jump in Oberstdorf - who took home the Golden Eagle trophy. Hayboeck finished behind him in second, with Peter Prevc from Slovenia claiming third overall.

Kraft's win means that an Austrian has now won the prestigious jumping event the last seven times. Together with Finland and Germany, Austria now has 16 Four Hills tournament wins overall.

Germany's jumpers put in a poor showing at the 2014 event, with Richard Freitag in sixth and Severin Freund in eighth overall.
