South Korea vows retaliation

South Korea's president has vowed to meet any provocation by North Korea with a "strong response." Meanwhile, the United States has sent two F-22 Raptor figher jets to South Korea as part of a military exercise.

As tensions rise on the Korean peninsula, South Korean President Park Geun-hye warned North Korea on Monday that Seoul would not hesitate to use military force in response to "provocation" by Pyongyang. The North has stepped up its bellicose rhetoric in recent days, declaring itself in a state of war with the South and threatening pre-emptive nuclear strikes against Seoul and its US ally.
