Hello snow!

Elisabeth Yorck von Wartenburg February 5, 2015

Germany's slopes are currently covered with fresh snow. Both the Alps and the lower mountain ranges offer fantastic conditions. Skiers and snowboarders are in their element.

Biting cold and abundant snowfall: These are the conditions currently prevailing in Germany. Not only the main ski resort areas are white; the areas east of the Elbe River and along the Danube are covered with snow as well.

Up to 14 centimeters accumulated in the north of Germany, according to weather service wetter.net. The Zugspitze, the highest mountain in Germany, remains the front runner with 330 centimeters (130 inches) of snow, reported the service.

For those who prefer more modest peaks, the mountains in the Black Forest are just as gloriously white. Altogether, all ski resorts show excellent conditions.

Fresh powder will keep covering the Alps for the next few days. More heavy snowfall is expected in the Mittelgebirge mountain ranges at the beginning of next week.
