A shooting at a McDonald's in the Philippines left a German dead and wounded a Frenchman and an Indian in what appeared to be random violence, local police said. The pre-dawn shooting followed a heated argument between two unidentified Filipino men and a 32-year-old Indian and his French friend.

The French victim's wife allegedly heard the two men making fun of their Indian companion.

Talisay city police chief Reycel Carmelo Dayon said the 31-year-old German victim appeared to an innocent bystander, as the assailants "were obviously out to get" only the two wounded men.

The suspects escaped and police distributed their images, captured from the restaurant's security cameras, though they will be difficult to identify as they had covered their faces.

The Philippines has one of the highest murder rates in Southeast Asia, fueled by the proliferation of firearms. The government has hesitated to implement a total gun ban, but has called for tighter control.
