Bastian Schweinsteiger sustained an injury in Bayern's 2-1 loss to a Major League Soccer (MLS) All-Star team on Wednesday, and was withdrawn just minutes after his introduction as a substitute.

Bayern coach Pep Guardiola seemed angered by the physical play from the All-Star team, especially towards the end of the game, and refused to shake hands with coach Caleb Porter on the pitch after the contest.

Speaking on German televsion, Schweinsteiger said that he had sustained bruising, but that he had been lucky. He admitted the trip to the USA for such a short amount of game time was "a bit difficult."

"As a player sometimes you have to be prepared to serve your club, and that's what we've done," he said. "Still, it was impressive to see how we were welcomed here."

After the game, as Bayern's squad returned to Munich, the club's official Twitter account described Schweinsteiger's injury as "nothing dramatic."

Lewandowski strikes again

Bayern got off to a good start in the game in Portland, when newly signed striker Robert Lewandowski scored after just eight minutes. The Pole has been in great pre-season form since joining the club in July.

English forward Bradley Wright-Phillips of the New York Red Bulls, equalized for the MLS squad in the 51st minute, with a left-footed strike from outside the penalty area.

Landon Donovan then scored the winning goal for the MLS All-Stars in the 70th minute. Donovan, who formerly played for Bayern Munich on loan, dribbled the ball to the top of the box before blasting it past German World Cup goalkeeper Manuel Neuer in the 70th minute.

The Bundesliga champions had seven members of the World Cup-winning German national team, but most of them remained on the bench until the final minutes of the game.
