Violinist Julia Fischer on life and music

She also plays the piano and loves to teach. She joins us on Talking Germany to talk about life and music.

Julia Fischer started playing the violin and the piano at the age of four. At nine she was admitted to the University of Music and Performing Arts in her home town of Munich and soon started to win music competitions. She first performed abroad at the age of twelve and soon began to perform with orchestras around the world. But she also loves the piano and in 2008 she fulfilled her dream of playing both a violin concerto and a piano concerto in one concert. That was a New Year concert in Frankfurt, and she played Grieg's Piano Concerto. She has a busy schedule, with about fifty concerts a year and a half-time professorship at her old university in Munich. She lives with her husband and two children in Munich.
