Award-winning South African cinematographer and filmmaker Michael Hammon’s latest film Gold profiles three paralympians who took part in the London Paralympics. Hammon grew up in Johannesburg and came to Berlin in the 1980s to study film. Now he’s teaching the next generation of budding movie makers as professor at the renowned film and television academy in Potsdam Babelsberg.

The bassoon generally takes a back seat in the orchestra. But Burak Özdemir from Turkey has placed it center stage mixing it with electronic beats in his own compositions. His ensemble Musica Sequenza, which he also manages, has released an acclaimed CD called the New Four Seasons featuring four Vivaldi bassoon concertos arranged by Özdemir as his very own “Four Seasons”.

This week's guest is US American stand-up comedian John Doyle who makes his living here in Germany telling jokes about the quirks and foibles of the country and its inhabitants. Originally from New Jersey he arrived here in 1990 and turned to comedy in 1996.

Australian photographer Kate Seabrook came to live in Berlin just over a year ago and immediately fell in love with the Berlin metro system. She’s photographed every station on every line and knows the geography of the city better than many locals. Meanwhile her photoblog Endbahnhof.eu has gone viral with fans all over the world.
