Topics

Die Toten Hosen - Rocking the Republic

For three decades the Toten Hosen from Düsseldorf have been making punk rock for the masses. Now they're touring Germany to support their latest album "Ballast der Republik". During a backstage interview in Leipzig, frontman Campino talks about the band's long history and reveals the secret to writing a smash hit like "Tage wie diese".

Sandra - A Return to Her Roots

Along with Nena, Sandra was one of Germany's top female pop exports of the 1980s. She sold over 30 million records, but later dropped out of sight. Now the singer from Saarbrücken has returned to the concert stage and recently released her tenth studio album. Called "Stay in Touch", it brings the 1980s back to life.

HIT I - Mrs. Greenbird - Shooting Stars & Fairy Tales

The New Year couldn't have got off to a better start for Mrs Greenbird, aka Sarah Nücken and Steffen Brückner. The singer-songwriter duo's debut album currently tops the German pop charts. Mrs. Greenbird was the winner of the German version of TV music talent show "The X Factor". The country pop duo's single "Shooting Stars & Fairy Tales" is our HIT video of the week.

HIT II - Rammstein - Mein Herz brennt

A collection of Rammstein's music videos, released just in time for Christmas, immediately entered the German top 5. The shock rockers shot two videos to support their current single "Mein Herz brennt". We showed you the piano version last December. The second clip, shot at the former Beelitz hospital complex in the state of Brandenburg, is a bit spookier.

TIP - Schmidt - Heart Shaped Gun

Singer Elisa Schmidt, known simply as Schmidt, is one of the best newcomers of 2012. Pop star Elton John was so entranced by the Berlin-based artist, who mixes pop and jazz, that he invited her to join him on his latest Australian tour. And, on New Year's Day, TV viewers across Germany heard Schmidt's song "Heart Shaped Gun" on the popular crime series "Tatort".

CLASSIC - M.C. Sar & The Real McCoy - Another Night (1993)

To wind things up, we go back to the 1990s when German Eurodance project M.C. Sar & The Real McCoy scored several international hits. "Another Night" climbed to third on the US charts, hit number 2 in Britain, and went all the way to number one in Australia and New Zealand.
