France international Franck Ribery received 35.3 percent of the votes cast by 224 players, well ahead of second-placed Borussia Dortmund's Marco Reus on 13.4 percent. Hamburg's Rene Adler was chosen as best keeper and Eintracht Frankfurt's Armin Veh best coach of the first half of the season.

Ribery has enjoyed a rejuvenated season with the league leaders, who are bouncing back in ruthless style from the disappointments of last season, when they finished second in the Bundesliga and lost both the Champions League and German Cup finals.

The Frenchman has scored four goals in his 12 Bundesliga appearances for the club this season, but it's his seven assists - delivered from unpredictable positions as he drifts dangerously across both sides of the pitch - that are arguably proving more valuable for the Bavarians.

Ribery has started in all six of Bayern's Champions League games so far this season, scoring one goal.

He has also effectively put behind him last season's allegations that he solicited an underage sex worker involved in a Parisian prostitution ring. The investigation by French state prosecutors was dropped in November 2011.

Biggest loser: Magath

Adler garnered 44.4 percent of the votes as best keeper, with Frankfurt's Kevin Trapp second on 18.8 percent.

Veh was chosen as "coaching winner" of the season so far while ex-Wolfsburg coach Felix Magath was voted "coaching loser" by 50.9 percent of those who took part.

In other voting, 37.6 percent tipped Barcelona to win the Champions League, with Bayern Munich (26.8) and Borussia Dortmund (21) next. A large majority (95 percent) are against scrapping of the Europa League, a move proposed by Europe's football governing body UEFA.

The Bundesliga season restarts on January 18 following its winter break.
