Hurricane Sandy washed away hundreds of homes in Seaside Park, New Jersey. Slowly residents are returning and beginning to think about rebuilding. We visit the town to take stock three weeks after the storm.
The US Congress has approved $9.7 billion (7.36 billion euros) in disaster aid for the victims of Hurricane Sandy. The vote comes amid anger over delays in passing the rest of the aid package, totaling $60.4 billion.
On the US East Coast, people are frantically preparing for the onslaught of Hurricane Sandy which killed more than 50 people as it passed through the Caribbean. Sandy is currently categorized as a Category 1 hurricane.
Millions of people across the US Northeast are assessing the damage left by Sandy. The superstorm has killed at least 43 people in the United States and may have caused up to $15 billion worth of insured losses.
