Just over ten years ago, the Rosetta comet probe and lander were launched into space, embarking on a mission for the European Space Agency (ESA) that promises results in many ways rivaling those brought back by the Apollo moon landings. Rosetta will be studying a comet made up of materials dating back 4.64 billion years to the time of our solar system's creation.

For 957 days of its long journey, Rosetta was put into a kind of hibernation. A few weeks ago, the orbiter and lander successfully revived themselves. In November, the lander is scheduled to touch down on the comet's surface.
