Philipp Lahm and Thomas Müller have both extended their contracts for another two years at Bayern Munich, the club has confirmed.

The Germany captain's deal now runs until 2018, while Müller is tied to the German champions for the next five years. The two players developed through the club's academy system with Lahm on the books of the Bavarian giants since the age of 11.

"Both Philipp Lahm and Thomas Mueller are very important elements of Bayern Munich," the club's CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge said.

"Both have remained faithful to this club right from the very start of their careers and they are also going to play an important role here in the future.

"We are very happy that both have decided to commit their long-term futures to Bayern Munich."

The confirmation ends weeks of speculation around the future of 24-year-old attacker Müller who has been linked with a transfer away from the club.

The German international has been with Bayern Munich for the last 14 years and pointed to his connection with the club, as a reason for extending his current deal.

"The club convinced me that I'm in the right place and I have the feeling that I'm an important component in the club's plans," Müller said.

Lahm, meanwhile, has played in a variety of positions this season under Pep Guardiola, spending long sections of the campaign in central-midfield. His role for the German national side remains unclear, however.

The right-back has been recovering from a foot injury, sustained during the German Cup final win over Borussia Dortmund, but he completed 45 minutes in the 6-1 win over Armenia last Friday.

Before the tournament kicks-off for Germany on June 16 against Portugal, Lahm sealed his last contract as a professional and confirmed he's set to end his career in Munich when he turns 34.

"It was the right time to discuss an extension," Lahm said. "This is definitely my last contract and I will end my career at Bayern Munich.

"That was always my wish and I'm delighted it has happened."
