On June 7 and 8, the Bavarian resort of Elmau will host the G7 summit of the seven largest industrial nations. To greet the guests with true Bavarian hospitality, the state has come up with a special welcome.

As head of the Bavarian State Chancellery Dr. Marcel Huber explained, "The heads of state and government of the G7 nations are welcome in Bavaria. "Welcome dahoam" as we Bavarians would say. And that’s what we hope to exemplify with the illuminated projection of the national flags on one of the best-known landmarks of the Bavarian Free State."

The illuminated installation marking the G7 summit covers the entire front façade of the castle. Beginning this past Saturday and continuing through June 5, the castle will be illuminated in the colors of a different nation each evening. The projections will begin after sunset at 9 p.m. each evening and continue for about half an hour.

Neuschwanstein is the most famous of the castles belonging to King Ludwig II of Bavaria and one of Germany’s most popular attractions. More than 1.3 million tourists visit it each year.
