Greuther Fürth announced on Monday that they would be hiring the service of 40-year-od Frank Kramer as new club coach.

Kramer, until now the under-23 coach of Hoffenheim, replaces Mike Büskens, who was fired three weeks ago. Since then, the team was managed by interim coach Ludwig Preis.

"With Frank we are getting a coach who we are completely convinced about," said club president Helmut Hack.

"Frank will push our fresh start forward so that we can look forward with a sense of confidence," Hack added. Preis will assist Kramer for the rest of the season.

It won't be the first time that 40-year-old Kramer has managed a side in the Bundesliga. He twice managed the Hoffenheim team following the departure of coach Markus Babbel in December.

Kramer has been in charge of Fürth's reserves and Under-19s team in the past. He now faces the mammoth task of keeping the side in the German top flight.

Fürth, having won just two of their 25 matches this season after being promoted last summer, look set to make a swift return to the second tier of the Bundesliga. The latest defeat for the "clover leaves" came, coincidentally, in a relegation clash at Hoffenheim, where they lost 3-0.

The side have even set a Bundesliga record, being the first team ever to fail to win any of their first 13 home games.

Fürth are at the bottom of the table, 14 points below Fortuna Düsseldorf, who are placed just above the relegation zone with eleven more matches remaining.
