Justin, the sensitive robot

Robots are meant to do dangerous, repetitive jobs in isolation. In Germany, occupational safety laws forbid people from even entering their work space, because robots are unable to perceive when they pose a threat to humans. But Justin the sensitive robot is different.

Developed at the German Aerospace Center (DLR), Justin has the sensitivity to do almost any job in cooperation with humans. Now the idea is to make it clear to lawmakers that he can safely and independently work together with human colleagues.
