Italy's olive oil crisis

Report: Angelo van Schaik, RomeDecember 11, 2014

Consumers around the world will be paying a lot more for their olive oil, after a disasterous olive harvest in much of southern Europe this year. A combination of factors has played a role, including bacteria inflicted on olive groves by a particular fly. In Italy, due to a hot spring and a relatively cool and wet summer, the olive harvest is on average 37 percent lower than last year.
