The Turkish city of Istanbul recently made a bid to become the Europe’s Green capital for 2017. But the move has left many locals scratching their heads. Since 2013, Istanbul has been convulsed by protests against runaway development that is eating up the city's green spaces. That rush now threatens Istanbul's second largest park, as well as the bird species which migrate there in spring and fall.
