Israel launches attack on Gaza

April 28, 2013

The IDF has announced that aircraft hit targets in Gaza after militants fired rockets at southern Israel. Attacks from Gaza have declined since a campaign in November (pictured), but sporadic fire persists.

Israel Defense Forces announced that they had struck "a terrorist weapon storage facility and a Hamas training installation" early Sunday. The air strike reportedly hit a base for militants in Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip but nobody was hurt.

The strike came in response to a rocket fired from Gaza the night before that landed in an open field within Israel, injuring no one, according to the military. No group took immediate responsibility for the rocket.

Though a Salafist extremist group has owned up to other recent attacks, Israel holds Hamas, Gaza's ruling party, responsible for all fire from the territory.
