July 20, 2012

Ingolf Baur can be seen on German television screens almost every day - and always on the topic of science.

Baur sees his main task as making complex scientific topics understandable to DW viewers.

He has an education in the natural sciences, with a degree in Physics, Astronomy and Biophysics. While studying the sciences, he also received an education in classical singing. After completing his university degree in 1993, Bauer worked as an actor and singer for the State Opera and at Hamburg's playhouse. But then came the call for the media world – a job at Südwestrundfunk (SWR), a public station in Germany, dragged Ingolf Baur in front of the camera.

Since January of 1999 Ingolf Baur has been combining his knowledge of the natural sciences with his stage and television experience as the presenter of Tomorrow Today. In addition to his many professional interests, Baur is also a keen cyclist and rower. He keeps his musical skills honed by singing in a 8 person A-Capella group called Kabinett.
