"In Canada, the holiday time is very similar to that of our American cousins - family get-togethers, big meals and lots of shopping. And while we both enjoy American football at this time, notably college "Bowl Games", where we differ is Canadians have developed a great passion for holiday international hockey (of course).

It has become a Boxing Day (December 26) tradition for many Canadians to watch the opening of the IIHF World Junior (U-20) Hockey Championship each year. As well, there is the Spengler Cup tournament in Davos, Switzerland. The international hockey on television for the week and a half following Christmas is a big part of the holiday season that takes us into the new year in Canada."
