The museum hosts unique treasuries of the Church from the Late Antiquity to the present. Among them is a 1000 year old statue of the Madonna as well as a silver candlestick from the Early Middle Ages. The Treasury of the Cathedral is, together with the Cathedral itself and the St. Michael’s Church, listed as UNESCO World Heritage.

After a comprehensive reconstruction that cost 10.4 millions euros the new museum will officially be opened on Friday by Bishop Norbert Trelle. From Saturday onwards it will be open for visitors. During the opening weekend entry will be free.
