Landmarks of Change (5): Glass Shopping Mall Chemnitz

During East German times when Chemnitz was still called Karl-Marx-Stadt, it was meant to become a model socialist city in terms of architecture. Those plans were never completed. But after the Fall of the Iron Curtain the city witnessed a building boom that made its center a model of modern architecture. The glass facades of a department store are a prime example of this development.
