Borussia Mönchengladbach confirmed the signing of Augsburg forward Andre Hahn on a four-year contract on Sunday evening. The 23-year-old will leave the SGL-Arena in the summer after the Foals triggered a 2.25-million-euro ($3.1-million) release clause in his deal, which expires in June 2016.

Hahn has made steady progress through the German leagues having been tied to third-tier outfit FC Oberneuland before being snapped up by Augsburg during last season's winter break.

His Bundesliga debut came in February last year against Hoffenheim and Hahn has since cemented a regular spot in Markus Weinzierl's team with 43 league appearances.

"Andre Hahn has made an incredible development this season, he is one of the highest-scoring wide players and will strengthen our attack," Gladbach sporting director Max Eberl said. "There was some strong competition to sign him, so we're happy he has chosen us."

Hahn has hit 10 goals this season with six other assists, attracting interest from the likes of Borussia Dortmund, Schalke 04 and Bayer Leverkusen. The in-demand ace is already the fourth player confirmed to be joining the Foals next season following done deals for FC Basel keeper Yann Sommer, Stuttgart's Ibrahima Traore and Hoffenheim's Fabian Johnson.

The right-sided attacker could be a curveball selection for Joachim Löw ahead of the 2014 FIFA World Cup. Hahn was called up to the German national team for the first time in February, only the third Augsburg player ever to manage this, in response to his strong season.

In addition to Hahn's scoring contribution, he is also regarded as one of the hardest-working forwards in the league. According to official Bundesliga statistics, he is the second fastest player in the division and clocked up the most mileage in the first round of fixtures with 12.5 kilometers racked up per game on average.

Meanwhile, Eberl refused to rule out the possibility of Juan Arango extending his contract at Borussia-Park. The Venezuela captain has yet to agree a new deal with the club having spent five years in Mönchengladbach.

The 33-year-old's contract ends in June 2014 and Eberl described the "exceptionally talented" left-sided midfielder as a "very important player" for the club.

"Although we have now signed Andre Hahn, that does not mean we don't want to extend with Juan Arango . We want to see what happens," Eberl said.
