Even without the injured Thomas Müller, Löw was able to call on the skills of six Bayern players for the game, just under 100 days ahead of the opening of this year's World Cup in Brazil.

Among the Bavarian side's stars taking to the field in Stuttgart on Wednesday were Philipp Lahm and Bastian Schweinsteiger, to take care of defensive midfield duties. Further up field were Mario Götze and Toni Kroos, with Arsenal's Mesut Özil also on hand and Lazio's Miroslav Klose up front.

There was also a place in the starting lineup for Hamburg's Marcell Jansen and Borussia Dortmund's Kevin Grosskreuz.

"Everyone has to be aware that it starts here and now," said Löw ahead of the game, with an eye to the big competition ahead.

The full starting line-up was as follows:

Germany: Neuer; Grosskreutz, Jansen, Mertesacker, Boateng; Lahm, Schweinsteiger; Kroos, Götze, Özil; Klose

Chile: Herrera; Isla, Medel, Jara, Beausejour; Aranguiz, Silva. Gutierrez, Vidal; Sanchez, Vargas
