Philipp Poisel

August 26, 2011

With his mop of messy hair and shy, unassuming manner, Philipp Poisel seems like any other boy next door with a guitar. But his unusual voice and knack for songwriting have sent him to the top of the German charts.

"I have to have the feeling that what I'm singing comes from me somehow, that my life's the background to it," singer Philipp Poisel reflected after a recent concert in Cologne, Germany. His songwriting approach is what endears him to many of his fans, who praise his authentic lyrics and down-to-earth presence at concerts.

Nobody has been more surprised by the 28-year-old singer's success than the man behind the microphone himself. His concerts are sold out, and his songs stay in the charts for weeks. He was even nominated for Germany's ECHO prize in 2011 as "best German pop artist."
