Fifty-six-year-old Detlev G. was presented in court for allegedly committing a sexually motivated murder and interfering with a dead body last November.

Chief prosecutor Andreas Feron told the regional court in Germany's eastern city Dresden: "He killed and dismembered him to get sexual stimulation and then later to get sexual stimulation by watching the video he made."

Prosecutors claimed that the victim had been hanged by a rope and then chopped up. However, lawyers of the accused contended that the victim strangled himself, committing suicide.

The German police officer and his friend, a businessman from northern Germany, had met on a website for slaughter and cannibalism fantasies in 2013. The website has more than 3,000 members and is billed as the number-one site "for exotic meat."

Detlev G. and his victim exchanged emails with the title "Schlachtfest," a German word literally meaning "slaughter feast." The two agreed to meet and realize their sexual fantasies in which one partner dreamed of being killed and eaten by the other.

The policeman allegedly killed and dismembered his victim at a hotel he ran alongside his job as a cop.
