France and Algeria find common ground in the battle against jihadists

The killing of French hostage Herve Gourdel in Algeria has highlighted the relationship between France and its former colony, who share a rocky past and are no strangers to Islamic extremism. Algeria already fought a bloody civil war in the 1990s which killed tens of thousands of people. But is a common enemy enough to coordinate their efforts in battling Islamic terrorism?
