Financial crisis hampers Asian poverty reduction efforts

Economies across the Asian continent are steadily growing, but there are fears progress made in development and poverty alleviation is coming undone as a direct result of the financial crisis. The United Nations warns the "growth at all costs" economic model being led by China is unsustainable and that many countries need to boost economic demand rather than rely on exports.
