In this edition: A portrait of star architect Renzo Piano, up-and-coming Berlin fashion label Achtland, the Austrian artist Franziska Maderthaner, a taste of Bavarian wheat beer, and our weekly quiz.
Thomas Bentz and Oliver Lühr only set up their Berlin label Achtland last year, but it’s already making waves in the fickle world of fashion. Their latest collection got rave reviews at Berlin Fashion Week. The duo have also won over Vogue Germany editor Christiane Arp, who showcased their designs at an exclusive event for media and retailers on the sidelines of Fashion Week.
As our series on Germany’s national drink continues, we travel to the world capital of beer, Munich, for a taste of traditional wheat beer. It is traditionally served in a tall, thin glass so the bubbles have to travel further and it takes longer for the beer to go flat. There is also a special knack to pouring it. Euromaxx investigates at the oldest wheat beer brewery in Bavaria.
Franziska Maderthaner is a Vienna-based artist who works in oils. She uses her talent for mimicry to make collages that combine historical and current motifs with abstract and photorealistic elements. From Baroque painter Carravaggio to street artist Banksy - she can find a way to weave their messages into her work.
