Euromaxx - Highlights of the Week

Exploring the Opole region in Poland

This area offers many tourist attractions, beautiful landscapes and the region has the largest number of castles and palaces in the country. Opole is not only the capital of the Opole Province, it’s also famous as the capital of Polish song. The National Festival of Polish Song is held here each summer and many famous singers began their careers here. We visit the Piast Tower and the amphitheater.

Shadow Art

Greek artist Teodosio Sectio Aurea has found a new passion in life - shadow sculpting. Originally a welder, just 18 months ago he decided to become an artist building metal and wire sculptures while incorporating shadows. We visited him in Athens to find out more about this fascinating self-taught art form.

Mountain Jazz in Northern Italy

Euromaxx went to the South Tyrol Jazz Festival in Italy for the "Saslonch Suite" event. The Dolomites are climbed for base jumping and tightrope walking while participants listen to jazz! Its one of the festival highlights when mountain music works well in a natural setting, making use of all the outdoor sound effects. We accompany the extreme athletes and musicians for the day.

Series: Fascination Football – Thomas Geier, Designer

Thomas Geier had dreamed of being a professional football player but injury ended that. However, he's discovered a new passion and he can still kick around with his favorite footballers whatever the weather. Geier is a foosball or kicker table designer and he crafts all of the soccer figurines by hand. They are each mini works of art in themselves so we decided to have a closer look.

The Artistic Duo of Wermke & Leinkauf

Danger is just part of daily life for Matthias Wermke and Mischa Leinkauf. The daredevil artists like to surf trains and scale skyscrapers to make their heart stopping videos. You can see their work in the Senn Gallery in Vienna. Euromaxx caught up with the pair in the Austrian capital to find out more about their artistic process.
