There is more violence in the Thai capital after overnight clashes leave one demonstrator dead

Karlotta BahnsenMay 14, 2010

We start in Thailand - where the army has fired teargas, water cannon and rubber bullets to disperse protestors from a central Bangkok district. Hospitals and witnesses say two people were killed and almost twenty wounded in overnight clashes. The former Thai prime minister Thakshin Shinawat has called on the government to end its crackdown against the so called "red shirts" and re-start political negotiations. Prime minister Abhisit Vijjajiva withdrew his earlier offer of fresh elections after the demonstrators refused to end their protest action.
