Champions League playoffs

Twenty teams have been paired up for the Champions League playoff round. Germany's Schalke will play Metalist Kharkiv of Ukraine. In the Europa League, Eintracht Frankfurt and Stuttgart will be heading east.

The teams were matched up Friday during a draw at UEFA headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland.

Turkey's Fenerbahce, which has launched an appeal at the Court of Arbitration for Sport against a two-year ban from European competition for match-fixing, was drawn against the English Premiership side Arsenal.

Bundesliga club Schalke is to face Metalist Kharkiv, which faces a match-fixing disciplinary hearing at UEFA next Tuesday.

The first leg of matches are to be played on August 20-21 and the second leg runs from August 27-28.

In the Europa League, Eintracht Frankfurt were paired with Azerbaijan club Qarabag. Stuttgart, who only just qualified for the playoff after eliminating Botov Plovdiv the night before, will take on Rijeka of Croatia.

The first leg of the Europa League playoff begins on August 22.
