Syrian refugees say the international community has left them in the lurch. Thousands of those, who've survived the fierce fighting across the country, have fled. But they're still holding out hope of an internationally-brokered peace deal between rebels and the regime of president, Bashar al-Assad. Kofi Annan threw in the towel. But now there's talk that veteran Algerian diplomat Lakhdar Brahimi will take his place, as special envoy to the war-torn nation. We begin our coverage in the commercial centre of Aleppo.
