People and Politics # As long as necessary - Germany´s mission in Afghanistan # 22.02.2010

Charlotte WilczokJanuary 22, 2010

On December 22, 2001, the German parliament, the Bundestag, approved the deployment of the German military, the Bundeswehr, to Afghanistan. Most Germans accepted that the mission was necessary in the wake of the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center. At the Afghanistan Conference due to be held at the end of January, the international community will try to develop a strategy that will finally bring success.
