PETER - We begin the show with what has been a day of celebration for the European Union. ARIANE - That's right -- the three senior figures representing the EU have been in the Norwegan capital Oslo to collect the Nobel Peace Prize. It was awarded to the 27-member bloc for six decades of "promoting peace, democracy and human rights. PETER - But not everyone is happy. Some have asked whether the prize is justified at a time when the EU is mired in economic and financial crisis. And others -- including former peace laureates like Archbishop Desmond Tutu -- have said the European Union shouldn't have got the prize at all because it's an organisation based on "military force".
