Neue Regierungskoalition in Athen # athen23c # 21.06.2012 01 Uhr # Journal Englisch

June 21, 2012

They finally have a government. After weeks of living in a political vacuum, the Greek people now have a coalition to lead them. On Wednesday, Antonis Samaras, the leader of the New Democracy Party, was sworn as prime minister. He will build a cabinet backed by his party, plus the Socialists and the moderate Democratic Left party. But you won't find people on the streets cheering. This new government has one headache after another awaiting it. There's no guarantee that this government will last more than a few months--like the last one. And there is no guarantee these new leaders will be able to ease the terms of the bailout that is keeping Greece from going broke.
