Suryo BuonoSeptember 25, 2011

The Saxon city Leipzig is home to just under 500,000 people, and boasts both an exciting past and present. Famous composer like Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy and Johann Sebastian Bach worked here. It's also a city of visual arts. Leipzig native Neo Rauch is one of the world's most successful contemporary artists.

Leipzig also features a brand-new attraction: the "Gondwanaland" at the city's zoo. Europe's largest indoor tropical hall is named after one of the two original supercontinents, Gondwana. It allows visitors to take a trip through the Earth's history. The space, which covers an area the size of two soccer fields, features a number of tree and plant species, as well as rare animals. One of the main attractions is the only Komodo dragon in Germany.
